Misty has been traveling on the Freeman's bus all her life.  Raised in the Nashville suburb of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Misty actually spent more time on the road than she did in Hendersonville. She has sat through hundreds of concerts throughout her youth while other kids her age got to participate in activities that Misty could not enjoy due to traveling.  So it was no surprise that when Misty entered her teenage years that she had no interest in being involved in a Southern Gospel Music ministry.

In 1997, Misty attended a youth camp that her church youth group took.  It was during this week that Misty came face to face with her future -- Southern Gospel Music ministry.  The Lord dealt with Misty and impressed upon her to use her talents to reach the unsaved and to minister in song to God's people.  It's a call she heard and upon returning to Nashville  she told her parents of her decision to join the family  ministry.

Playing acoustic guitar, Misty soon took her place on the stage with the Freemans and felt that she was headed down the right path.  Misty prefers the more traditional style of Southern Gospel and Bluegrass music.  She inherits her love for this music from her Grandmother, Wilma Freeman (Darrell's Mother).

When the Freemans were recording the project Standing Out, Misty's mother, Chris Freeman, was scheduled to record the title song while Misty would make her singing debut by singing backup on the chorus of the song.  However, Chris had to run some errands so Misty's Dad, Darrell, asked her to record the entire song just so that he could get a feel for the song's phrasing and tempo.

Misty stepped to the mike and recorded the entire song while Darrell listened in amazement.  Soon Chris returned to the studio and heard what was coming out of the studio speakers.  Equally amazed, Chris was touched by what she heard and knew right then that Misty had solidified her commitment to God to use her talent for him.  The entire song now belonged to Misty and it continues to be a special song to Freeman fans and to her family.

Many musicians have influenced Misty over the years, most notably Allison Kraus, Rhonda Vincent and Patty Loveless. Even though some similarities exist between Misty and these artists, it is apparent that Misty is defining her own style.

In December, 1998, Misty recorded her first single which was released nationwide to Southern Gospel radio. "Let Me Fall" is an old Southern Gospel Music classic that her Mother recorded and performed with the Hinsons more than 20 years ago. "Let Me Fall" is a beautiful ballad and the response from radio airplay was very positive.

In 2002, Misty was nominated for the Young Artist of the Year award based on the annual voting of the Singing News Magazine's subscribers.

In 2002, Misty's released her first solo project, It's All True.  Receiving favorable response from Southern Gospel radio and fans, Misty released a second project in February 2004, Faith, Hope and Love.  Already receiving positive feedback from music critics, Faith, Hope and Love will further define Misty's style and talent.

Misty married Bryce Calloway on Saturday, May 13, 2006 in Nashville, Tennessee.  Misty and Bryce will reside in Hendersonville, Tennessee and, In addition to having her own projects, Misty will continue to travel and sing with her family.

Bryce will also travel with Misty.

Misty recently turned 24 and looks forward to the years ahead of singing and traveling. In her time home off the road, Misty surfs the Internet, enjoys spending time with friends and as she puts it, dates a little.  Misty enjoys collecting Boyds Bears and listening to Bluegrass music.
